I’m a writer specialising in science, tech, and medicine. I also produce cultural events.
I’ve written for the ABC and The Guardian, and I’m still fairly smug about that.
Closer to home, I have worked with several small businesses to help them develop their brand and web copy – I’m proud of that one because, coming from an academic background, it was a steep learning curve for me. It was really fun though and I felt great to be able to help other local businesses, and work one on one with people who care about what they do.
My passion project is Heart Open, a local cultural showcase I produce with my creative partner, Alex Morris. We’ve gone from annoying unsuspecting punters in bars with poetry and air-guitar performances, to delivering events with the support of the Lock-Up, This Is Not Art Festival, Hunter Innovation Festival, Newcastle Museum, Newcastle Art Gallery, Hunter Writer’s Centre, the City of Newcastle, and (of course) The Roost Creative.
