Introducing The Roost Residency 2026
Big ideas need time, space and support to grow.
That’s why we’re excited to launch the inaugural Roost Residency: a new opportunity designed to support Newcastle-based creatives as they commence, continue or complete a meaningful creative project.
The residency offers one local creative six months of free professional membership at The Roost Creative, giving them the space, community and momentum to focus on their work while becoming part of Newcastle’s broader creative network.
Whether you’re developing a publication, exhibition, film, design project, community initiative, performance work, research project or creative business idea, the residency is designed to help create the conditions needed to move your project forward.
What the residency includes
The successful resident will receive:
Six months of free Professional Membership at The Roost Creative
A dedicated desk space
Access to our creative coworking community
Networking opportunities and professional connections
Informal mentoring and peer support
Daily coffee runs and friendly faces
The residency is open to creatives living and working in the Newcastle region across all disciplines and career stages.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with a project they genuinely care about, something that would benefit from dedicated time, structure and creative community.
This isn’t about polished applications or having everything figured out already. We’re interested in hearing about:

Applications
Applications close June 15th. The winner will be announced on 26th June and the residency runs from 1 July until 31 December 2026.
We encourage applications from creatives of all backgrounds, disciplines and experience levels.
